Background
Several hundred years ago, Willoughby crashed on Tybo's planet. He was near death, but Tybo saved him by giving him a heart transplant... a lettuce heart!
Even though he is sympathetic to other members of the animal kingdom, he is intensely loyal to Tybo. This is partly out of gratitude and partly out of fear. Tybo has set strict rules on what parts of the plants Willoughby can eat to sustain himself.
